What is the difference between a Medical and Educational Mission?
A Medical mission involves running clinics to see patients, whereas an Educational Mission may include visits to hospitals and clinics and participation in lectures, seminars, conferences, and meetings with health professionals.
What is the difference between a Single and Double room?
In a Single room, you stay alone, whereas in a Double room, you share the room with another person in a room with two beds.
What type of lodging should participants expect?
Depending on the destination, you will stay in hotel or in short-term rental property.
What is included in the NYRN Fee?
The NYRN fee includes hotel accommodation, breakfast in most destinations, local transportation, and transfers to and from the airport on the dates of the mission. If you decide to arrive before the start date or stay after the end date of a mission you are responsible for arranging your transfer to and from the airport. Airfare IS NOT included in the participation fee.
Can NYRN staff help me in buying my flight(s)?

How much money should I take?
Depending on the destination you should anticipate $25-$60 per day for meals. While most places accept credit/debit card payment it is a good idea to carry cash to cover meal expenses.
What can I bring to help during the missions?
While NYRN pays for medications that prescribed to patients during the mission, volunteers can help by bringing OTC medications such acetaminophen, ibuprofen, adult and children’s multivitamins.
Can I earn CEUs for participating in a medical or education mission?
Yes, all missions have a CEU component. Once a participant is confirmed for a medical mission the participant will receive the CEU information. CEUs are provided and validated by NYSNA (New York State Nursing Association).
Are participation fees refundable?
Any payment made before 90 days from a mission start date is refundable. Any cancellation made less than 90 days from a mission start is non-fundable, but is transferrable.

Your registration is only complete after paying the $350 deposit.
If you choose a mission that is less than three (3) months away must pay the full participation fee to be considered registered.
Deposits and payments are accepted via Venmo, PayPal and Zelle. When sending your deposit indicate the country of the trip selected, except for trips to CUBA, that should be indicated as ISLAND.
Although not common, participation fees are subject to change.
Itinerary is subject to change.
The deadline for full payment of the participation fee is 90 days before the mission date. Many missions have a waiting list therefore if not paid in full your registration will be cancelled.
Some countries require a visa for entry. Visa fees are NOT included in the participation fee. While NYRN can assist with obtaining visas, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to obtain a visa when required.
All participants must sign the liability release and photo release waivers, and code of conduct form.
Safety of all participants is the top priority for NYRN therefore it is strongly recommended that all participants attend the orientation video call for your mission. In addition, volunteers should visit the Department of State and CDC websites for travel advisories.
